Welcome to the MMA / Jiu-Jitsu program at Rowlett Martial Arts Center, Inc.
The program is a mixture of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jujitsu, Judo and Submission Wrestling.
Jiu-Jitsu (sometimes spelled "jujitsu") techniques include all unarmed combat techniques such as strikes, throws, submissions (chokes, arm locks, leg locks ,etc.), and positional control. Jiu-Jitsu students can defeat a stronger opponent by using his/her ability to apply leverage and technique rather than strength.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a hybrid martial art that combines the grappling from Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling and other grappling arts with striking techniques from Boxing, Muay Thai and other striking arts.
Erik Boranian has been studying the Martial Arts since 1994. He has trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Fighting, Mixed Martial Arts, Iss-Hogai Jujitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do and Modern Arnis.
He has trained under the following great Martial Arts Instructors (From past to present): Howard Nixon - 5th Degree Black Belt Tae kwon Do, Duane Ethington - 8th Degree Black belt/Founder Iss-Hogai Jujitsu, JD Shelley - Black Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Joe Garcia - Muay Thai / MMA, Jason House - Professional MMA /Muay Thai, Youself Alizeri - Black Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Wrestling.
